In 1996 joined North East Lincolnshire Council as a senior adviser and later became Head of School Improvement for the primary phase. Retired from this post in 2008 and since then has been a self-employed educational consultant. Was a qualified Ofsted inspector and has led a significant number of inspections. Has also acted as a school improvement partner, a role which both challenged and supported schools' leadership teams.
